Off the Rack: Spring Fashions at Old Navy

Old Navy Spring 2009 Collection

Spring has arrived at my local Old Navy, so I snapped some pics to show how these clothes look in "real life." Bright colors dominate this collection, which includes bubblegum pink and canary yellow trench coats; loose-fitting tops and sundresses in ocean blue and tangerine; layering tees, tanks and cardigans in a rainbow of colors, and full skirts in blue, red and brown.

Accessories are equally bright: I spotted some floral tote/beach bags, flip-flops in every color imaginable, colorful ballet flats and thong sandals, and lightweight scarves in an assortment of solids, stripes and patterns. Swimwear was a strong point for me (sorry my photos are kinda blurry), there was a nice mix of two-piece and one-piece suits in tropical hues, easy jersey cotton maxi dresses, and some cute embroidered kaftan/tunic coverups.

If you're looking for cheap workout wear, Old Navy definitely has you covered with a wide array of inexpensive support tops, yoga pants—even eco-friendly aluminum water bottles. During my trip, I bought a couple items from the last-call clearance section and called it a day. It's 38 degrees out today and I just can't bring myself to buy spring clothes until the weather warms up. But I imagine lots of spring breakers will be stocking up! What do you think of ON's spring offerings so far?

I like the flats - been wanting to snap up some bright, springy pairs. Lemme know if you see yummy yellow ones - they are on my wishlist, preferably in a lemon sorbet shade.

Wow I'm in love with that white cover-up in that picture next to the pink printed one piece. Your Old Navy looks huge!

too bad old navy uses sweatshops. its great that the clothes are cute and cheap, but next time you go to shop there, think twice about why it is all so cheap.

I think the athletic wear looks super cute! Its hard to find cute, cheap work out wear, I think i'll be checking it out asap! The yoga pants I do have from old navy that i bought years ago are fantastic and have held up amazingly, hopefully these new items are just as good! :-)

I recently browsed through an Old Navy, and I really liked the cover ups, I really (REALLY) don't need anymore swim suits. Also the light jackets I saw were cute, though just seemed to be a more brightly colored version of the exact jacket I bought there in the fall.

I have to say, I'm a little tired of Old Navy's mediocre selections. They sometimes try to be fashion-forward, but in all the wrong ways. I do love them for basics and their jeans are fool-proof. But I'd like to see more stylish things. Not crazy off the wall stuff that is not going to appeal to their customer base. Plus, my Old Navy is FULL of clearance junk and looks like a grage sale. :-) That is just my opinion though.

contrary to other opinions, Old Navy always makes me smile when I go in there-love their spring selection...

Bold colors are very in this season and so are cute (gladiator style) sandals. Old Navy is a great place to get budget-friendly finds! Thanks for the pics.
