On Sunday I braved rain showers in my Hunter wellies to check out the Liberty Of London for Target collection, as I'm sure many of you did, too! At first I was disheartened because my store didn't have any of the home stuff, but when I tried on the clothes, I fell in love. This was the first time I've ever seen other women of all ages actually checking out the collab display, trying stuff on, buying stuff and commenting aloud "This is cute!" The patterns are bold but just try it on! You might be pleasantly surprised as your mood instantly lifts at the sight of all the bright colors. I've seen a lot of adorable dresses that meet all my criteria: No-fuss fabric, compatible with a regular bra, and hemlines at or above the knee so you can wear them in professional settings or to family gatherings. I must sound dreadfully practical but fashion you can wear in your real life is much more exciting to me than a dress that just collects dust in your closet. Off the Rack: LC Lauren Conrad for Kohls Spring 2010 Collection

blink and you might miss the display! i found mine behind the simply vera vera wang section.

Last week I finally checked out the LC Lauren Conrad for Kohl's Spring 2010 collection now that every store carries this line (or at least they should, ask your store manager if they don't). I gotta say I loved it because it strikes that perfect note of sweet but not sugary, cool but not trying-too-hard, wearable but still stylish. I bought the blue ruffle dress (looks great with heels), boyfriend blazer (can never have too many!) and two ruffle-front camis (one in pink, one in blue). They look just like the Rebecca Taylor camis LC wears in real life, sexy on their own and perfect for layering under a cardi, blazer or leather jacket. The leather jacket is hot and very buttery to the touch but I already own something very similar so I passed. Of course, I did not pay full price. Everything was 30% off, plus I signed up for a Kohl's charge and got an additional 10% discount. Why Kohl's keeps playing games with the sales, I will never know, no one pays full price but I guess it's all about the psychology of shopping! LOFT Spring 2010 Lookbook

The LOFT Spring 2010 Lookbook has been out a little while now and it's garnering mixed reviews from Facebook fans. As LOFT sheds its former "stuffy" self and the Ann Taylor Loft name, the company is trying to move in a more fashion forward direction and the lookbook is a prime example. I personally love it (very Anthropologie meets J. Crew) but I can see how LOFT's loyal customers might be annoyed. The socks with sandals, shorts with heels, mad layering—it's all a bit tough to pull off and geared to more adventurous dressers. The Simply Vera Vera Wang for Kohl's Spring 2010 collection lookbook is out, showcasing designer Vera Wang's affordable collection of contemporary apparel, jewelry, handbags and shoes with an artful edge. Happy colors like coral, purple, teal and yellow play on dresses, tunics and tops, along with floral and brushstroke prints, which contrast nicely with basic blacks. Leggings are always a big part of Vera's collections but there are some cropped pants, jeans and denim trousers to choose from, too. Most of these pieces are already available in stores and at kohls.com, so you may have seen or shopped them already (hopefully on sale!). I love the sequin tank tunic, thought it looked really luxe in person. I'm also a big fan of all the chunk chain jewelry (not loving the cheesy flower jewelry so much). Off the Rack: Spring Trends at Zara

Spring's MILITARY TREND played out at Zara in structured jackets, lots of khaki and subdued camo prints. (jacket shown here, $129)

If you have the good fortune of living near a Zara, you will be treated to a sophisticated selection of early Spring fashion offerings. Gone are the blacks and grays of winter, and in their place, lots of pale neutrals, and colors like rose, camel, gray blue and off-white. Zara caters to the urban, modern shopper so a lot of the clothes are work appropriate and priced closer to the $100 mark. I was most excited about the accessories but those are tricky to photograph, as you can imagine. Gorgeous studded sandals, denim platforms, slouchy genuine leather hobos, fab belts, lightweight scarves, chic flats—the works! Again, not cheap but worth taking a look. Here are a few pics I snapped to give you a taste of what's in store.

My New Stacked Crystal Lamp from Target

The hunt for a stacked crystal ball lamp ended today! I finally found one at Target (recommended by some readers) and I loved it. It's not as luxe as the Pottery Barn one, and I never did see the one at JCPenney, but for $35.99, I think it's exactly what my desk needed! It's the perfect size and I love how the balls go from big to small. In the store I was afraid it looked too plastic-y, but at home, it looks fantastic! Thanks again to everyone for sharing your feedback. Depending on what you're looking for, I think both Target and JCPenney offer great versions of this classic style lamp that will add a chic touch to your home.

JCPenney Discover Spring Style Event

Last Tuesday I attended the JCPenney Discover Spring Style event at the Lincoln Center in New York City to see highlights from the upcoming spring fashion collections. Celebrity designers in attendance included Cindy Crawford (Cindy Crawford Style), Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen (Olsenboye), Michele Bohbot (Bisou Bisou), Charlotte Ronson (I Heart Ronson) and Nicole Miller (Nicole by Nicole Miller). You could tell that the crowd (myself included) was thrilled to see Cindy and the Olsens briefly introduce their collections before models took to the runway to showcase the latest trends: Modern safari, brights, florals, lots of denim and bold accessories. Celebrity hoopla aside, I think JCP offers a lot of affordable, stylish pieces to get excited about this season. My favorite piece was a pink dress with a giant side ruffle, hands down! Off the Rack: Jean Paul Gaultier for Target

The Jean Paul Gaultier for Target collection hit stores Sunday, and while i wasn't able to see it for myself, I recruited my sister to check it out for me and take the photos you see here. Isn't that what sisters are for? Anyways, my sister was pleasantly surprised by the overall quality and styling, despite prices that felt higher than usual and inconsistent sizing (a constant battle). Highlights for her included the brown and red leather bomber—undeniably fabulous, but then again, you'd expect it to be great for $200, she said. The tattoo print tights, tops and bathing suits, however, are reminiscent of Ed Hardy and therefore seem generic rather than special. The rolled collar floral dress was her favorite piece because of the lovely neckline and interesting detailing. She actually liked the plastic-y fabric because it holds its shape and doesn't wrinkle. All things considered, my sister says this might be her favorite Designer Collaborations line so far. Have you shopped this collection yet? What did you buy?
