Yesterday I was flipping through the November issue of People magazine while waiting in the check-out line at my local grocery store, scouring each page for bargain-savvy tips that I could share with you, my dear readers, when what did my eyes behold? My very own blog, The Budget Babe, staring right back at me in bold, pink letters, smack dab on the pages of People! I gotta say, it was a pretty cool (and very surreal) moment. "I'm buying this, too!" I shouted to my boyfriend and the somewhat startled cashier, as I tossed the magazine onto the conveyor belt. I was grinning from ear-to-ear.
So why was yours truly mentioned in People? Glad you asked: As part of their special StyleWatch issue, the glossy included an article called "15 Ways to Save Big $$$$! Use the Web to stretch your fashion and beauty budgets and you'll be the smartest, most stylish shopper around." My blog got a mention on page 82, under Tip #4: Do a little research: Regularly log onto blogs or sites that troll the Web looking for bargains." Yippee! Other blogs of note included The Budget Fashionista and Cheap Chica (two of my favorite bloggers and really amazing women, too) and the Bargainist.com.
Anywho, it's neat to get recognized, but what really matters to me are my daily readers--both new and old--and your questions, your comments, all that good stuff that keeps me writing and searching for bargains. So (grab your Kleenex), I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank all of you, my incredible readers, for your kindness and support. Seriously. I love sharing my obsession, er, passion for budget fashion with all of you, and I learn so so so much from YOU in the process.
And now for some news you can REALLY use...more fab money-saving tips from People (hey, I bought a copy so I might as well pass this info along!)

Congrats BB, you deserve it!
I wanted to let you know that since you've had your blog updated, it's really disapointing the way your rss feed is set up. While at work I cannot access many blogs, but I do have access to Google Reader. On google reader, I can only see about the first paragraph instead of the whole post. While it's fun to come to the site, it's not always the most convenient to come to the site. I've been skipping over most of your posts now and reading other blogs instead, since I can't read your whole post. Just thought you should know.
Due to the popularity of my site, some other viral websites were stealing my content via the RSS feed and posting them as their own, word-for-word, pics and all. So to ensure The Budget Babe content is exclusive to my readership, I had to change the content that was being delivered via RSS from the entire post to the intro text. Hopefully, you will still click over to my site to read the complete post!
Thanks for understanding
If you can also add a link to your blog for mine, I would so appreciate it.
My blog is: The Recessionista
so Congrats!!!
THAT IS SOOOO COOL- YOU HAVE TO FRAME IT!
I'd like to thank YOU for your wonderful blog.
I'm 17 and still going through that "finding myself" phase; the most helpful thing right now has been your great style tips.
It may sound shallow, but honestly, just reading your blog makes me feel great about myself & excited to go out there & express my personality through my style.
You run such an excellent blog, it's now one of my daily must-reads. The spot in People is totally deserved.
this is the only reason i'd be caught dead buying people magazine.
During these rough economic times I have turned to ClosetCouture.com as a way to save and insure that my purchases are wise ones. Closet Couture allows me to work with what I already have and I love that. I have uploaded my entire closet to the website. It is a lot easier to make new and fresh looks when your closet is organized for you on Closet Couture. I also love love love the packing list feature - I can pack from anywhere!
