It honestly sounded too good to be true.

Each mattress is 100% made in America, moderately priced, shipped to your door in an extremely lightweight box within 3-5 days, and there's a 75 night sleep trial. Twin is available for $450, Full is currently sold out and no price is listed for reference, but I’m assuming between $500 and $700, Queen is available for $750 and King for $850. It’s worth noting that these mattresses are memory foam, and compared to other leading memory foam mattresses these prices are surprisingly affordable.



Plus, I am very difficult in what I expect out of a mattress. I often find that mattresses are too soft or too firm, never a happy medium, and they are either too hot or don’t retain heat well. Plagued with this Goldie Locks syndrome, and a difficulty with falling asleep and then staying asleep, I had high hopes for my Doze but I also was prepared to come out of the experience disappointed.

Setting up our mattress was extremely easy.

We took the box into our bedroom, unwrapped the vacuum sealed plastic and laid out the mattress, which requires 1-2 hours of expansion time. It’s worth mentioning that you NEED to take the mattress out in the room that you’re going to be setting it up in. (It makes it so much easier, I can’t imagine moving the memory foam through the apartment.) In addition, Doze sends promotional materials including a note from the founders, Brendan and Russell, tips for installation and a cozy pair of Doze socks.

The mattress is extremely soft, but still supportive.

I believe my muffled words as I lay face down on the mattress were “I feel like I’m on a pillowy cloud.” Doze rates their mattress as a 6 on their soft-firm scale and saying it’s “the perfect balance." I 100% agree. The gel also kept the mattress from over-heating, which makes it very difficult for me to get to sleep since I’m a fan of burrowing into my down blankets to sleep.

What surprised me most about Doze was the quality of sleep I got.

I normally take hours to fall asleep, and on the first night it took me maybe 10 minutes, if that. I also wake up 2 to 5 times a night and I was able to sleep through the night entirely. I woke up well-rested (who knew this was an actual feeling?) without my typical back and headache, and I felt energized and ready to take on the day.

My overall thoughts?

Definitely check out Doze if you’re in the market for a new mattress. It completely changed my relationship with sleep, which completely changed the rest of my day. The 75 night trial makes it easy to fully test the mattress and see if it works for you in the long run, without blindly committing to the purchase. The streamlined process of trying before buying, and the simplicity of ordering straight off the internet makes it less daunting to take on the task of buying a mattress.
