Converse One Star Spring 2010 Lookbook

Converse One Star Spring 2010 Lookbook

Target released images of its Converse One Star Spring 2010 collection featuring "all-American sportswear with a youthful spirit and artistic edge." Looks like they took a little inspiration from British model Agyness Deyn for the styling. Nothing too groundbreaking but definitely a very wearable, laid-back collection of cool basics under $40, perfect for summer! Check the Target pressroom for prices and availability.

Off the Rack: Toywatch Lookalikes, Perfect Aviators and More at Target

Xhilaration watches, reg. $12.99 sale $9.98 (I think)

Yesterday I made a quick trip to Target to pick up some fireplace hearth accessories and that Sally Hansen nail polish I posted about here (more on that to come). I also got two scarves and a pair of gloves for $5 total, but passed up the Anna Sheffield for Target jewelry currently on clearance. I may regret it later but I just wasn't feeling any of it, even on sale. Keep scrolling to see a few other totally random items that caught my eye (but I did not buy):

Merona aviator sunglasses, $16.99

SquareKey Folder Box, $18.99. I've been waiting for these to go on sale...

SquareKey Desk Organizer

Mossimo "Palani" gladiator sandals, $24.99.

These look strange in the photo but great on the feet.

Tucker Sale Going on Now at Gilt, Plus Tucker Coming to Target

A selection of Tucker's splashy silk dresses and blouses currently on sale at Gilt.com, originally priced from $276 to $345, now $108 to $138.

Recently Fashionista reported that Target has signed with Tucker by Gaby Basora for a collaboration we can expect to shop mid-summer. If you're curious to see what this New York-based designer's actual high-end collection looks like, head on over now to Gilt.com, where you will find her signature silk blouses and dresses marked down up to 60%.

Translating these silhouettes for mass production won't be difficult (it's not like Target doesn't already carry tons of billowy, patterned tops), but of course I'm concerned about the fabric quality. Target has done silk before (my Anna Sui for Target tunic is 100% silk) but it's very lightweight, sheer and somewhat scratchy. Nonetheless I'm happy to learn about an under-the-radar designer and I expect the prints will be tasteful. We shall see!

Jean Paul Gaultier for Target Lookbook

Jean Paul Gaultier for Target Lookbook

Thanks to reader fashion court, I was able to get my first look at the Jean Paul Gaultier for Target Designer Collaboration lookbook courtesy of Refinery29. While the disjointed, outdated styling is a turn-off, when you start to look at the individual pieces, there is a lot of potential. (This scan from the pages of Elle magazine makes it look much more promising.) Highlights for me include a beige trench ($59.99), brown leather bomber (worn by an absolutely stunning model, btw. Look at those thighs!), and a yellow Marilyn Monroesque sundress. Prices range from $17.99 for swimsuit separates to $199 (ouch) for leather jackets. Mark your calendar for March 7th when Jean Paul Gaultier for Tarjay hits. Keep reading for all the looks!

First Look: Zac Posen for Target Lookbook

Fashionista has released the upcoming Zac Posen for Target Lookbook, a collection which incorporates Posen's signature chiffon and prints—and lots of dresses. Highlights for me include a floor-length gown ($69), a slim black suit ($90) and pink tiger-print dress ($40). Um, I kind of love it. It strikes me as sexy and young but definitely adaptable for many women and tastes. Alas, we'll never really know until the collection launches on April 25th.
