I am so glad you made this topic. I grew up with his music, loved catching his videos every morning on MTV every morning, and loved tuning in when MTV premiered his amazing videos. NO ONE will ever be able to touch his talent or his contributions to the music world.
I have always liked MJ - even whenhe was going through those terrible allegations, I always believed that he really is just that innocent (no pun intended) in that he really never had a childhood and he wanted to just have sleepovers..... He just didn't have the right people around him to say, 'maybe that's not such a good idea' but it's like it didn't even cross his mind because he is a Peter Pan to the core... He was the best and will always be the King of Pop. Thriller will always be hands down the best video EVER made - and anyone who came after him will always have some kind of MJ within their music because he was the one and only.
RIP - MJ....xoxo
As a product of the 80's he will always and forever be a legend my eyes.. I even had the red leather jacket! Many days were spent dancing in my parents living room to RECORDS lol.. He did, indeed, have is ups and downs and somewhat bizzare behaviour, but honestly, who wouldn't in that industry! I could name many stars who have cracked under the pressure, and he had been at it since he was so young... rest in peace..
I love reading everyone's reflections on this, wish I had written something in my post but seriously I'm totally out of it today... what can I say, also being an '80s baby, I always LOVED Michael Jackson and his music really makes up a substantial part of the soundtrack of my LIFE.
Over the years, I too rocked a red leather jacket (and white and black and silver....), black cig pants with white socks, and the single glove (oh yes) --all as a small personal homage to the King of Pop.
I feel a lot of sadness but at the same time, nostalgic joy for the music he gave us. Last night we went out and celebrated his life and work with a packed bar full of young and old, coming together to watch the news, drink and just bond over our shared love of this great entertainer.
Very sad. I was an 80's teenager and MJ's album Thriller was a religion back then. It was not my religion because I was so in love with Simon le Bon from Duran Duran at the time that I couldn’t possibly listen to anyone else. But his talent will go down in history. May he rest in peace.
Mj you will be truly missed it is so sad to see the #1 KING OF POP go so quickly i seem him a longtime ago in concert singing we are the world when i was a child may your soul live on Rest In Peace We Love You
My husband told me while I was at work. I am devastated. I grew up on Michael and still love him. Smooth Criminal was my first record. My thoughts are with his children and family.
RIP, Michael.
